Who we are
tale again! is a reading journal for families operated by Alif Labs Pte. Ltd., a company incorporated in Singapore with principal operations in Indonesia. Write to hello@taleagain.app with any question about your data.
What we collect
Your sign-in account (Apple or Google identifier and email), your children's nicknames, birth month and interests, the books on your shelf, the reads you log with their reactions and notes, and the shelf photos you scan.
How we use it
To run your shelf, journal and stories. Shelf photos are uploaded securely to tale again! and sent to our book-recognition provider (OpenAI through our service gateway) to find book titles. We do not use those photos to train models, sell your data, or show ads.
Service providers
We use Foundation for sign-in and billing, DOKU through Foundation for web payments, Adapty for App Store subscription processing, OpenAI through our service gateway for shelf recognition, and encrypted object storage for photos and exports. Web checkout records include the selected plan, price, policy acceptance and payment reference; card and payment credentials are entered with the payment provider, not in your journal. We use SigNoz for operational signals and OpenPanel for aggregate paid-subscription events. If usage analytics are enabled, OpenPanel receives screen categories and purchase-flow events with a pseudonymous identifier, never journal content or children's details. These providers process data to provide tale again! or as required by law.
Sharing
Your journal is not public. You choose whether to share a card. Moment notes never appear on a card or in analytics. If you turn on "Help other families find books", we use anonymous reading patterns (which books are read again, never names, notes or photos).
Keeping and deleting
We keep your data while your account is open. Scan photos are scheduled for deletion seven days after you confirm the scan. Export your journal at any time (Plus). Deletion blocks account access immediately, queues removal of provider profiles, and schedules permanent erasure of children, shelf, journal, media and export files after 30 days. An identity fingerprint remains to prevent deleted sessions from recreating an account. Apple and payment providers may retain transaction records under their own policies and applicable law. Children
The account belongs to a parent or guardian. Children do not sign in, and we do not collect contact details from children.
Changes
We will tell you in the app before this policy changes in a way that matters.
